Bracket system is an orthodontic construction, which is set for a fixed term and is used to correct the malocclusion and its treatment of disorders that can dramatically change the condition of the teeth. This design consists of a series of locks (also referred to as "braces") that are attached to the teeth surface by using special adhesive positions and connect the arc, whereby the teeth for some time move into the correct position.

Pros and cons of dental braces

Main advantages of braces:

-        Helps eliminate occlusion defects, align the teeth and prevent reverse deformation, which will relieve the patient of need to resort to other orthodontic devices once and for all.

-        Installation of braces occurs in orthodontist's office. It is completely painless procedure.  It is enough to visit the doctor once a month to monitor changes in the position and alignment of the teeth.

-        Braces may be installed during pregnancy.

As for the cons, they also have:

-        Oral hygiene and cleaning teeth are more difficult;

-        You need to buy special toothbrushes with bristles cut in the middle, through which to make proper cleaning of the teeth to prevent caries;

-        Aesthetic appearance;

-        Possible discomfort;

-        Compliance with a special diet;

-        Regular visits to the doctor-orthodontist.

Classification of braces

Metal Braces - Pros: low cost, reliability, speeds up the process of alignment of the dentition. Easy to use and maintain. Cons: not enough aesthetic.

Plastic Braces - Pros: highly aesthetic and relatively low price. Cons: small strength (break easily), and may eventually fade.

Ceramic braces - advantages: a high degree of aesthetics (especially from artificial sapphire), more attractive, can not be painted or fade, strong enough. Cons: high price, possibly the friction in the system, complicated removal and there is a chance of enamel damage.

Lingual (internal) Braces - Pros: today one of the most popular, as are almost invisible on the teeth. Time of active treatment is much less due to minimal friction design. They differ from classical that they are placed only on the inner surface of the tooth. Cons: high price, more complex care structure and teeth, possible violations of diction in the first few weeks of the treatment process.

Self-ligating braces types - advantages: you can visit the orthodontist less frequently as your own teeth are in the right place. The lack of the ligatures greatly facilitates the procedure for dental hygiene. Cons: the price is quite high, compared to traditional braces.

Given the financial side of the patient, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of braces, a qualified orthodontist will be able to find a suitable course of treatment that will eliminate once and for all the problem of occlusion and the patient will get a beautiful shiny smile for a lifetime.
